This evening's short walk with Lake District National Park volunteers: Clints Quarry Nature Reserve

a long abandoned limestone quarry ..

.. now taken over by wild flowers ..

.. and cliff nesting birds

common spotted orchid

we walked round below the cliffs

ghostly harebell - the camera caught the colour despite focusing on the background

one of the many deep pools inside the quarry

the elusive bee orchid

close up of one of the bee-like flowers

pyramid orchid - colour not so good here - it should be a deeper purple

another pond with some mining relics

hartstongue fern in the woods around the quarry
