Who knows, some clever record company rep might even get to hear them and they might earn you a record contract! You never know...
Samples however are another story as they can be much bigger. Depending on web space limits, I'll make available as many sample files as I can for you to download on this site.
How about being able to chat directly with other users all over the world and receive answers to your questions instantly! Or maybe instantly swap .MIX files instantly with another eJayer?
In a short while, you'll be able to do this and more on the new eJay Chat Server.
The server and client software is now in the testing stage and eJay Chat Client V1.0b will soon be available for downloading and beta testing by participating eJay website webmasters. If trials go to plan, the client will be made available on eJay web sites for download by the general public.
Webmasters:
Want to participate in the beta trials and help iron out bugs or influence how it works? If so, e-mail me at barrie@tenerife1.com with your URL and I'll be in touch.
MP3's, if you are not familiar with them, will take a 44KHz 16bit stereo wave file and, without loss of sound quality, crunch them down to a fraction of their size. The example ONTHERUN.MP3 might be 3.8MB to download, but the .WAV file it was created from (exported from Dance eJay) was a whopping great 42.6 MB in size! Imagine downloading that...
All you need to listen to them is an MP3 player like WinAmp, available in the MUSIC\UTILITY directory here on my ftp site (Saturday's only) or elsewhere on the Internet... and of course your PC with a sound card.
The following list is my current Dance eJay MP3 list - not all of of which are available here as I have limited storage space on my web site. All the files are on my ftp server which naturally will only be available when I am on-line. Those available on the ftp server are marked with two asterisks (**).
As MP3 files are already compressed to the hilt already, it's pointless zipping them up so they have been left as MP3 files. If your browser tries to launch a program to play them when you attempt to download them, just cancel and click on the link again holding down the left shift key.
| Name | Author | Description | Size |
| Sunrise | Barrie Capel | My First Ever eJay Track | 1.8MB |
| On The Run | Barrie Capel | My Second Song And Much Better! ** | 3.8MB |
| Leave Us Alone | Barrie Capel | Based Around The 80's Synth Loop ** | 2.3MB |
| Hysteria | Craig Capel | A Mental Dance Track ** | 3.8MB |
It's also worth mentioning that I have the UK version of Dance eJay. I have found a few MIX files on the net which wouldn't load into my Dance e-Jay, so there may be differences in compatibility. This could however have just been due to faulty downloads or even that they were in fact Rave mixes and not clearly labelled. I'll try and get more info on this and let you know as soon as I find out. Rave eJay mix files are definitely not compatible with Dance eJay, and the same goes for HipHop eJay too. All MIX files are only 11K or so but to make downloading easier they have been zipped up.
In the tables, you can e-mail the author directly by clicking on the name, (apart from me as my e-mail link is on the left), and you can jump directly to the author's home page by clicking on the 'H'. Clicking on a web page link opens another web browser window. If the name link is dead, or there isn't a H then the author does not have an e-mail address or web page.
As I now have a number of new MIX files which make use of the add-on sample CD's that are now available plus the fact that I want to group all the songs by each author together, the use of numbered files in the lists made updating a nuisance so I decided to alter the format of the MIX tables. The numbers columns are now gone and what was the Description section is now primarily to indicate which add-on sample kit(s) are required with a 1, 2 or 3 and with a hash (#) if additional supplied samples are included in the zip file. It was becoming increasingly more difficult to think of descriptive comments to make for each track, so they've gone except where a track merits special comment. If a * is shown, then the files will load into Dance eJay with no additional sample kits loaded. Please let me know if I get the numbers wrong as I have all the sample CD's and it's difficult to figure out which kits are used in a mix - you only get a message when you load it if you don't have one that is needed.

So, that's my lists so far, though I'll add more as I make and receive them. What I need is for you to share your MIX files with everyone by sending them in so I can add them to this page. Let's make this the largest depository for Dance eJay MIX files on the net!
Feel free to upload any samples you have created and would like to share with other Dance eJay users, (you will need a username and password to upload though). Please do NOT e-mail sample files - only MIX files.
You'll also be able to ask for utilities to do a specific task and get advice on which one if any best fits the task. If a utility doesn't exist, then you never know someone out there could have the knowledge to write one. I'll start the 'does anyone know' ball rolling by asking if anyone knows of a utility to convert .WAV samples to PXD format? Well, anyone know? Please e-mail me.
All it does, is interrogate MIX files and tell you what they are. This is nothing spectacular in itself, but when you realise that any MIX file on your hard disk could have been produced by Dance eJay, Dance Machine, Gung DanceMachine or Rave eJay, BMFI will at least tell you what the MIX file should be loaded into!
To use it, simply click on the File button and select any MIX file. You will then be told what eJay program produced the mix file and what version of the program it was. You will also be told which (if any) of the additional sample kits were used in it. This version is the new 1.1 which will decipher what extra .WAV files are embedded into MIX files and works with all the Dance and Rave files I currently have. If you have any mix files which it fails to work correctly with, please e-mail them to me. I don't need the extra samples though - just the MIX file please!
