the Digital Bookshop Co is a new and innovative venture started up by David Coles and Eileen Shaw from Leeds, and later joined by Andy J Campbell from Halifax, England. Aware of the difficulties, frustrations and hang-ups that attend the book and magazine publishing business, they decided to combine to attempt a short-cut, an interim stage or a complete bypass to publishing. Writers and artists can use the Bookshop in any of the above ways.
tDB is a short-cut if all you want is to see something "in print" on one of our digibook discs, using the digitale programme devised by David Coles.
tDB is an interim stage if you want to use your digibook disc to send to print publishers or agents. In a climate which is increasingly techno-friendly people are welcoming submission on disc - and a story in Cluster magazine might be a route to new markets.
tDBis a complete bypass to publishing if you want your work sold through the internet and other markets, on disc, to anyone who might fancy a good read.
The digitale programme allows the purchaser to print off one copy of the contents - so hardened print readers can run off a version to take in the bath if they want.
tDBcontracts are almost suicidally favourable to writers, with a claim on your work for as short a time as it takes to sell it on, or for one year, whichever is the shorter. Copyright remains with the author at all stages.
tDB is uniquely friendly to writers. All submissions receive a non-standard critique, though we are not vanity publishers and only good quality writing will be accepted for publication. However, Editor Eileen Shaw will work with writers who show signs of wit and courage - we know you're out there somewhere.......
tDBwas formed to take steps towards changing the climate for the experimental and the ground-breaking, as well as for good, strong, well-written genre fiction.
Artists too could benefit from a liaison. We will work closely with an artist to produce a digitale disc to sell to new and old markets - what better format could there be for wide-scale submission to publishers and editors looking for illustrations?
You have come upon the Digital Bookshop Coat an early stage of existence. If you have a work of fiction to submit click on Authors for advice on what to do next, or on Artwork for further information.
Browse through the Bookshelf for our releases, take a look at Cluster for news on the first issue.
Above all, keep in touch. We hope to grow - get beards and high-heeled shoes. We're babes on the net, be nice to us and - come back and see us again.
