Berrington Hall, Herefordshire, England. A view from
the east. Built in the late l8th century by Henry Holland for the
Harley Family. It now belongs to the National Trust and is open to
the public.

Eye Manor, Herefordshire, England. A view from the
recently restored gardens. Eye Manor, which is privately owned, was
built for Ferdinando Gorges, a Barbados sugar trader, who bought the house
in 1673.

The pictures displayed in the Exclusive
English Art Gallery have been processed to reduce the file size. This has
necessitated the reduction of colour, depth and size. Thus, the quality
of the actual picture will be much better than what you see displayed in
this site.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: S. M. SOLE
S. M. Sole is primarily a watercolour artist who regularly exhibits and
sells her work. Her subjects are varied, but she has a particular
liking for those with an architectural and historical focus. She
became interested in painting at an early age; but throughout her busy
life as a diplomat's wife and a mother, she was unable to paint very seriously.
However, in the l950's, before her marriage, she did spend some time
in Cyprus, where she specialized in pen and ink with watercolour washes
and held an exhibition there. During that time, she was also commissioned
by the Cyprus Museum to do the numerous detailed scale drawings of ancient
artifacts found on archaeological digs.
Since her husband's retirement, she has devoted more time to painting
in the beautiful countryside of the English Welsh Borders (including Herefordshire
and Worcestershire), which she has come to know well and love.
