This week's Star of the Week is Melissa Joan Hart who will be starring in the title role in this fall's new ABC show, "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch."
Melissa has a list of credits far beyond her years. At the age of four, Melissa shot her first national television commercial, and she hasn't stopped working since.
She's a veteran of TV, film, and stage productions. Winner of three Youth in Film awards for her work, Melissa was nominated for a CableACE award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for "Clarissa Explains It All." The series was also nominated for a prime-time Emmy Award in 1994.
Melissa works actively for a number of charities including her role as a spokesperson for the Starlight Foundation, Audrey Hepburn's Hollywood for Children Fund, Pediatric AIDS/Kids for Kids, and she is the co-chair for the Children's Museum of Manhattan. In the upcoming Presidential election, she will appear as Nickelodeon's News correspondent.
Melissa combines her busy production and charity schedule with studying and recently completed her sophomore year at NYU. In her spare time, she enjoys snowboarding and collecting Shirley Temple memorabilia. She currently divides time between Los Angeles and her family home in New Jersey, which she shares with her mother, stepfather and five brothers and sisters, who are also actors.
