Nickelodeon's resident goody-goody, Melissa Joan Hart (_Clarissa Explains It All_), reinvents herself as a ruthless teen in this fact- based 1996 TV-drama.
Why smudge the squeaky-clean image? Melissa explains it all: "Hopefully, [_Clarissa_ fans] understand that this is acting and this isn't me. I don't want [kids] to think of me as [the film's character]." She took the role of a heartless siren, she says, to demonstrate her range. And she succeeds -- bringing cunning and complexity to the part of Jennifer Stanton, who seduces a gas-station attendant and persuades him to kill her domineering parents (Daniel Baldwin and Isabella Hoffman, late of _Homicide: Life on the Street_).
