CAMBRIDGESHIRE FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP

Registered Charity No. 278815

ABOUT THE SOCIETY

The Cambridgeshire Family Family History Society was founded in 1976 and now has over 1000 members, about 800 in the U.K. and the remainder in Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A, Canada and on the continent of Europe. It is a registered charity and is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies.

Family history embraces a range of linked interests. The common link is perhaps best described as an interest in our ancestors and the lives they lived.

The Cambridgeshire Family History Society exists to encourage the study of genealogy, family history and heraldry within the old counties of Cambridgeshire and the Isle of Ely. Members live throughout the U.K. and overseas. Although many local members have no ancestors from these counties they use the Society as a forum for meeting fellow enthusiasts and exchanging information of general genealogical interest.

The Society holds monthly meetings, usually in Cambridge. The programme, which includes lectures, informal discussions, project sessions, outings and social events, caters both for beginners and more experienced genealogists.

A quarterly Journal is published, usually in February, May, August and November. It is free to members and includes members' interests and a wide range of articles and news.

The Society is involved in an active programme of project work which includes the transcription and indexing of parish registers, census returns, monumental inscriptions and other records.

Subscriptions are payable on joining and on 1st January annually thereafter. To join the Society please complete the Application form, plus the Member's Interests form, and send them to:

Wendy Doyle, Membership Secretary, Cambridgeshire FHS, 65 Station Road, Histon, Cambridge, CB4 4LQ, England.

All cheques should be made payable to "Cambridgeshire Family History Society". Membership details will be held on a computer database and used strictly for society purposes.

For those new Member's that wish to pay by Banker's Order then a form is available as is a Deed of Covenant form also. Please follow the relevant link to print the form. These should also be returned to the Membership Secretary with your application form.
