This morning's walk before a wet afternoon: Ling Fell

the start of the walk at Embleton church

this NO THROUGH ROUTE sign is misleading as the dead end right of way leads to access land

looking back down the right of way

looking ahead to Widow Hause with Graystones to the right

plenty of water in the spring of Bladder Keld and a fence heading straight for the top of Graystones

plenty of heather (also called ling) on the slopes of Ling Fell - Skiddaw in the distance

looking the other way towards Low Fell

sun on the wind turbines on the west Cumbrian coast

looking beyond Graystones to cloud drifting over the Grisedale Pike ridge ..

.. and more cloud over Skiddaw and Ullock Pike

Ling Fell summit looking north to Binsey and the foot of Bassenthwaite Lake

the Wharrels Hill wind farm with the Solway beyond

the descent path amongst the heather

in the middle of this picture is Embleton church where the walk began

the descent path joins the old coffin road with Binsey and the foot of Bass Lake ahead

heading towards the Wythop Valley with Sale Fell and Skiddaw ahead

the coffin road curves down into the Wythop Valley with Skiddaw, Ullock Pike and Dodd beyond
