Today's walk: White Combe (Wainwright's Outlying Fells p172)

a signed public path now avoids AW's one third of a mile on the busy A595

the return valley of Whitecombe Beck from this path

looking back towards the parking place illustrates how welcome this path is ..

.. the cottages ahead where it meets the road were presumably once a pub - the Fox and Goose

a new signed path beside them leads to AW's path..

.. which no longer has the appearance of virgin jungle but is very muddy

looking back down the path which becomes pleasant higher up

looking back down the path up the fell with the sea in the distance

looking south from the path towards the Duddon Estuary
