Today's walk (Keswick rambling club): Coniston Old Man - Brim Fell - Grey Friar - Great Carrs - Swirl How - Dow Crag

the start of the quiet path from Boo Tarn to Coniston Old Man

a short way up the path we found this basking young adder

on the west ridge of Coniston Old Man with Coniston Water below

zooming in on Brown Pike and Blind Tarn with Black Combe very faintly behind on the left

Wetherlam, Levers Water and Low Water from the top of Coniston Old Man

looking north to Brim Fell and Swirl How from Coniston Old Man summit

zooming in on the Scafells from the top of Coniston Old Man

arriving at the summit of Brim Fell

leaving Brim Fell northwards with Swirl How ahead

Seathwaite Tarn from the ridge with Green Crag and Harter Fell beyond

on the contouring path below Swirl How

the 'Matterhorn' rock on Grey Friar

Green Crag and Harter Fell from Grey Friar

the Scafells from the north top of Grey Friar

another shot of the 'Matterhorn' on the way down - now in sunshine

looking back at Grey Friar

the memorial on the site of a crashed Halifax bomber looking to the Scafells

Great Carrs summit looking into Little Langdale

zooming in on Crinkle Crags and Bowfell from Great Carrs

view north from Swirl How

zooming in on Pike o'Blisco and Pike o'Stickle

looking north over the true summit of Swirl How ..

.. which is clearly higher than the cairn and possibly higher than Coniston Old Man

Levers Water with Coniston Water behind from Levers Hause

looking back to Swirl How from the contouring path below Brim Fell

approaching Goat's Hause and Dow Crag on the contouring path

panoramic shot back to Grey Friar and Swirl How from the slopes of Dow Crag

a glimpse of Goat's Water with Coniston Water in the distance from near the top of Dow Crag

one of the many gullies on the Dow Crag ridge

another dizzy view down onto Goat's Water from the ridge

looking back to Dow Crag from its south ridge

approaching Brown Pike with Walna Scar and White Maiden beyond

looking down from the ridge onto Blind Tarn with Coniston Water in the distance

the Scafells now very hazy from Brown Pike
