KMT - THE ORGANIZATION

Over the last ten years KMT has provided facilitation, training and consultancy services related to specific areas of Risk Management to a number of major clients operating worldwide, including the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies, Philips Electronics, Montell, Bank Negara Malaysia, Petronas, KUB Malaysia, Royal Ten Cate, Wavin and Elenac.

Risk Management

Most major investigations, commissioned over the last 15 years by governments and financial regulatory authorities worldwide, into the integrity of corporate management and financial results, has identified the need for a formal and on-going Risk Assessment to be carried out by the Senior Executives of Companies. Risk, in this context, should comprise all events which may hinder the achievement of an enterprise's objectives, including its corporate responsibility to stakeholders such as its customers, employees, suppliers, society and investors.

Today's challenge for business is to succeed in an highly competitive climate of constant change and complexity, with the scarcity of competent resources and increasingly demanding customers. Today's challenge for management is to deliver both excellent short-term results for investors as well as to ensure their enterprises have the resilience to survive unexpected market developments or incidents, and to prosper in the long-term for the benefit of all their stakeholders.

The term Risk Management encompasses a vast number of general or specific subjects, some of which focus on mathematical and statistical theory (e.g. insurance and financial instruments) whilst others focus on management and systemic theory (e.g. total quality management). KMT's consultants have specialist knowledge in four areas of Risk Management:

  • business risk and control
  • internal audit
  • health, safety & environmental management
  • fraud control and investigation.

KMT course development and delivery, and consultancy assignments are carried out in accordance with the codes of professional conduct of The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, The Institute of Internal Auditors and The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.

KMT's administrative base is in Sevenoaks, Kent, England. The Partners and Consultants maintain regular contact with the office when out on assignments. Peter Ashwell is based at Sevenoaks, whilst Richard Heron works part-time in the business from bases in Grove, Oxfordshire and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Quality Control System

KMT's ISO 9001:1994 Certificate Number is FS 38482 which has the licence scope of "the development and provision of management training courses".

To enable continual improvement, KMT has devised its own system of documentary control, whereby all consultants report inconsistencies, potential gaps in their knowledge, or areas for improvement. All suggestions are reacted to and, if necessary, changes are made to training courses and documentation.

Quality Assurance work is carried out regularly on each consultant's performance. An internal Course Director's Report is prepared for every course delivered by KMT in order to monitor KMT's performance and improve our service to clients.

Course performance is monitored through participants' daily appraisals, mid-course knowledge tests to ensure the learning process is working correctly, daily faculty discussions on participants' progress, and end-of-course appraisal by participants to highlight key learning points and areas still requiring improvement. These appraisals, tests and discussions enable the course director to optimise the learning environment for each individual and group of participants.

KMT receives written feedback from participants at the end of each course to confirm that the published training objectives have been satisfactorily met. Course Directors' reports on KMT's performance will be sent to companies which sponsor participants, when requested.
