The day began early for club members and
friends. There was the decorating of the
function room, the seating of tables, and of
course the preparation and cooking of the meal.
Lion Alf Greenbank was "head chef" and
was ably assisted by his wife Jean . The Club
President and other supporters worked hard behind
the scenes

Those of us not "on duty" at the Plough
were dispatched to collect the Guests. In
two minibuses donated by Hounslow Phab and one
hired from Hounslow Community Transport:- driven
by volunteer drivers.

Upon arrival at the venue, guests were provided
with a glass of sherry, and shown to their seats.
Having made themselves comfortable they were
offered further liquid refreshment, the mood was
set! everyone had been provided with a drink,-or
two- (not all alcoholic) then we began to bring
on the festive fare

The first course, a very
nice vegetarian soup, was served with a roll and
butter, and of course more liquid refreshments.
The main course was a traditional Christmas
dinner, and you've guessed it yet more
liquid refreshment Next came
Christmas pudding and custard, closely followed
by mince pies, mints, and much pulling of
crackers.

After this magnificent feast. everybody settled
down for the entertainment. This was in the form
of a seasonal disco. With a memorable Frank
Spencer impression. along with jokes. silly hats.
and party poppers. A raffle was the held.
lots of prizes were donated by friends,
club members, and local businesses. Even Santa
managed to find the time to drop by and hand out
the gifts to all the guests.

Slowly the festivities
wound down, and it was back to the minibuses for
the cheerful journey home (via some local Xmas
lights as many of our guests never get to see
these).

Vice President.
