Mustard

Dear Vic,

I read your page with interest. The Latin word SINAPE is, despite my previous doubts concerning it not ending with an -a, -us or -um, correct, I looked it up in the Latin dictionary.

What surprised me was the origin and meaning of MUSTARD: in fact there is a German equivalent MOSTRICHT (like SENF also meaning MUSTARD) where MOST also means in German freshly pressed juice.

To enlarge your collection of languages I will contribute: MOSTERD in Dutch, MUSTÁR in Hungarian, SINNAPI in Finnish, SENNOP in Danish and MUSZTARDA in Polish.

Kind regards,
