Lara Croft in a tight leather bodysuit

Welcome to Gamephase, a site that was going to be a huge project for me, until I met a very nice chap online named Steve, who has a huge gaming site, Gamer Grand Central. I've been doing reviews and previews for his site, so this one of mine has rather fallen by the wayside.

So, here are links to the games I have covered over on his site. It's still me, Catnip, just over in someone elses home!

And now, the instant games fix for the keen gamer, Online Games! Just click to play Tailgunner! a great space shooter.

Gaming & Me:

The first game I ever played was one I typed manually into a ZX81 back in 1982: a figure appeared at random on the screen and you had to press numbers to kill him - maybe this is where I get my love of action games!

It was only recently that the graphics in games got good enough to hold my attention; apart from the Sentinel and some text adventures on my old BBC back in 1987, and Scorched Tanks and Hired Guns on a friend's Amiga at college, games left me cold up until 1997. Since, then... oh wow!

The game that really hooked me was Quake, especially deathmatching online, followed by Duke Nukem 3D and the lovely Lara in Tomb Raider. I really go for these action type games, for me the best thrill is to be found running around with a big sharp sword - the bladestaff in Heretic II is a dream weapon for me - hacking enemies to pieces. I don't really enjoy games that need a lot of thought or stealth, I don't do sneak as well as charge! I love 'puter pinball nearly as much, and do play some adventure games but I'd rather have full-on graphic action a la Unreal than the slow methodical planning of something like Myst.

I recently discovered the joys of the Gameboy Color. If you never played with one, its about time you gave it a try. Okay, the graphics may be limited and there are far too many platformers made for it, but some of the most enthralling and imaginative games are packed up tight into those little cartridges, a true gamers delight!
