My First Home-Grown Pineapple!

And here's the fruit of my endeavours...

...above is the fruit as it was at the start of the summer.
And then, a few months later...

...the fruit grew and grew. It was obviously a pineapple - but curiously purple.
Finally, at the end of October...

...the fruit stalk started to bend over, the fruit turned the familiar golden colour... and so off it came!
Needless to say, I planted the top to start on The Next Generation...
...and this year (2002), The Next Generation plant has started fruiting - yum!
