Strange on BBC2
On Bank holiday Monday 26th May, Strange
appeared on Music Live!, a program which went out at 7pm
on BBC2. It featured the band in a short documentary sitting on a barge
in Castlefield and playing a "gig" outside the studio. A clip of Hard
Luck live at Albert Square from the previous Saturday was also shown.
It was very impressive, and a lot of people saw it. In fact an estimated
5.5 million people tuned in.
Strange shoot Strange Video
On Sunday 20th April, Strange did a
video shoot for I Think So in the local theatre in Chapel-on-le-Frith.
Around 20 versions of the song were performed in all manner of variations
including two at double speed, one with the male-member's bare feet "dancing"
and another where everyone went bananas whilst Dave drank a cup of tea.
The enormous spiral wheel also featured greatly in the filming. It was
all very bizarre.
Strange play Virgin Megastore
On Friday 18th April, Strange played
Virgin Megastore in Manchester as part of a launch for the band. It took
place at 1pm and there was a fair few people popped along for a free gig.
It was a great success with the free demo tapes going like hot cakes!
Local Weatherman in Guitar
Playing Shocker
On Saturday 12th April, Strange, recorded
two songs at Granada Studios. During the day, not only did they have a
laugh with the legendary Stuart Hall but they also bumped into Fred Talbot
the zany Granada weatherman, who attempted to play Gary's guitar. Gary
said he was also quite freaked when they had to drive down Coronation Street!
Strange at the Beeb
On Wednesday 6th March, Strange attended
another star-studded London event this time for the BBC. They performed
three songs acoustically in front of lots of celebs who they later got
to chat to including Jo Whiley and David Soul. The whole
thing went very well except that they were warned not to play too loud
for fear of breaking some valuable porcelain vases which they were surrounded
by. The venue, slightly strangely, was an art museum.
Gary Stars in B-Movie
Back on the 30th November, Gary (the
guitarist) turned to acting... in an amateur B-Movie called Foiled
set in Manchester. Gary stars as a pizza delivery man who gets attacked
by an alien. To see pictures of the filming that day and Gary as you've
never seen him before, check out the page Foiled

Louise Wener in Eye-liner Theft
Shock !!
Before the Carlisle gig on 7th December,
Strange bumped into Sleeper in a Manchester studio. Louise Wener "borrowed"
Vicky's eye-liner... It was very controversial when Vicky discovered, on
arriving at Carlisle, that she was completely eye-linerless.... (She probably
just dropped it somewhere but that wouldn't have made much of a headline!)
Jarvis Frisk Scandal
On an October Wednesday evening, Strange
attended a star-studded award ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in London. Lots
of celebs were there but most noteably was Jarvis Cocker, who Gary
had a long chat with and apparently Jarvis asked Gary to "frisk him" after
Gary had suggested he had been given lots of demo tapes. Gary's view of
Jarvis - a very down-to-earth sound guy... or words to that effect. Gary
also managed to tell Paul King (of King and VH1 fame) that he had a nice
tank top. Hmmm... I bet it was lovely!
Kula Shaken by Bouncers
Apparently, it has been reported, that
Kula Shaker attempted to come and see Strange on Friday 4th of October
at the Night and Day Cafe but the bouncers wouldn't let them past the door
as they weren't on the guest list! It seems the bouncers didn't recognize
them!
