I thought I was going to like this bike a lot more than I actually do when it first saw a picture
of it in the LEGO catalogue. It isn't quite as realistic as the old bike (
8422
) but it does make good use of the new alloy wheels as well as the new swing arm.
It is fairly unusual for a Technic model as it only contains a couple of standard Technic beams. The bulk of
the construction uses flat beams and rods in combination with angle brackets and flats. I'm not
too keen on the corrugated piping but I suppose it achieves the goal of looking futuristic
(in common with the new 1998 Technic models). I think I would have given it 7 but I built the alternate
model which is 'Harley' influenced and does make better use of the corrugated piping.
