Control Centre II (8485)

Control Centre II

I was in two minds about which of the two main models to build first. The T Rex dinosaur looked pretty impressive but I settled on the helicopter with it's helipad and control console. There are three motors included in this set which allows the control centre to change the X and Y tilt as well as drive the main rotor and tail rotor blades (which are linked via a very long control rod). On a manual note, the helicopter lifts and lands by pressing down on the control centre (who needs motors). The control centre itself can record and play back two sequences of motor on/off commands for all three motors and comes with a mains adapter to save on batteries. It's a good set if you want a source of motors and beams and the helicopter itself is very good. This makes the biggest model so far in my collection.

Update: I have now built the T Rex and I think it is better than the helicopter. The three motors control the mouth, the sideways movement of the body (head and tail) and the last motor makes the beast swoop up and down. It also makes better use of the control panel as you can record a few minutes of movement and then frighten any small animals you may have in the house by making the T Rex come alive! Another model that earns an extra point from 7 to 8 for it's alternate model.
